Hub End Components

In heavy goods vehicles (HGV), hub end components are the various parts that make up the wheel hub assembly. These components include the wheel bearings, hub seals, retention nuts, studs, and axle flange. The wheel bearings are bearings that allow the wheel to rotate smoothly around the hub, hub seals are used to keep dirt, dust, and other debris from entering the hub assembly and help to keep lubricating oil inside the hub. Retention nuts are used to secure the wheel to the hub, studs are the threaded studs that the wheel nuts are screwed onto and the axle flange is the portion of the hub assembly that connects the hub to the axle of the vehicle. All of these components work together to ensure that the wheel hub assembly functions properly, allowing the wheel to rotate smoothly and ensuring the stability of the vehicle. Damaged or worn hub-end components can cause issues with steering and braking, and should be inspected and replaced as necessary.
