Exhaust Air Temperature Sensors

Air temperature sensors, also known as intake air temperature sensors, are components used in the air intake system of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) engine. Their main function is to measure the temperature of the incoming air before it reaches the engine. The sensor is typically located in the air intake duct of the engine, near the air filter and can be of different types like thermistor or thermocouple. The temperature of the incoming air can have a significant impact on the engine's performance and efficiency. Cold air is denser than warm air and contains more oxygen, which means the engine can run more efficiently and produce more power when the air is cold. On the other hand, warm air contains less oxygen and can cause the engine to run lean, leading to decreased performance and increased emissions.
