Coolant Sensors
Coolant sensors are devices used in heavy-duty vehicles such as HGV's to monitor the temperature of the engine coolant. The sensor is typically located in the engine coolant system, and is used to measure the temperature of the coolant and send a signal to the engine control module (ECM). The ECM uses this information to adjust the engine's performance and protect the engine from overheating.

The sensor typically works by measuring the resistance of the sensor element, which changes with the temperature of the coolant. The ECM can interpret this change in resistance as a change in coolant temperature and adjust the engine's performance accordingly.
If the sensor is not working properly, the engine may not be able to properly regulate the temperature and could overheat, which can cause serious damage to the engine. It's important to keep the coolant sensor in good condition, and replace it if it fails or shows any signs of wear. Regularly checking the coolant level, pressure and temperature can also prevent coolant related issues.
