ABS Sensors

Wheel speed sensors or Abs sensors as they are sometime know as are used on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) as part of various systems including anti-lock braking systems (ABS), traction control systems (TCS), and stability control systems. These sensors are located near the wheels of the vehicle and are used to measure the rotational speed of each wheel. The sensor typically consist of a magnetic pickup which is installed near the wheel hub and rotor, this rotor has small notches or protrusion that pass close by the sensor when the wheel rotates, this movement generates a small electric signal. The signal is then sent to the vehicle's electronic control unit (ECU) which uses the information to control the brakes and wheels in order to improve vehicle stability and handling. Additionally, this sensor can be used on other application like monitoring tire wear, tire pressure and engine output.
